Washing in the Light of Summer – A Litha Ritual

June 22, 2019 @ 2:00 pm

Image result for midsummer, sun celebration

“This is the time when celebration takes place, when romance is in the air and when the Summer Solstice takes place. It is a time when the longest day and shortest night occurs and this will change from year to year, Midsummer Eve falls on June 20th and at this time there will be many festivals with the theme of Fire. The Midsummer’s Eve theme is symbolic of the Sun so the festivals are solar related giving thanks to the return of the sun as the earth shifts from winter to summer. The circle of life brings the sun’s rays to potent state where the earth says good-bye to the long cold winter months that held the ground in deep freeze and the beginning of new things to come.” (http://www.mysticfamiliar.com/library/folklore/midsummers_nights_eve.html)

On Saturday, June 22nd Keepers of the Holly Chalice will meet to celebrate the peak of the sun’s light as we wash ourselves in the sun’s light and take in the solar energies into ourselves.  We will gather to give energy to those things that need healing, light, warmth within us, carrying us forward into the days that will begin to get shorter.

Should you attend, please bring your robes for ritual if you have them, a potluck dish to share with those attending, and a donation for the Keeper’s kitty (bank).

Please come to our Midsummer circle and seek the sun’s blessings.

Happy Midsummer!
