A Weekend With Dolores Ashcroft- Nowicki

Fri. Aug 31st - Sun. Sept 2nd, 2012

At Seelie Court In Southern Delaware

Mirrors are tricky things, they can show us blemishes we really do not want to accept or they can show us what we what we WANT to see.   But are they truthful?

Mirrors are and always have been magical things , reflections are after all the very opposite of what they reflect. What lies behind the reflection?  Can we as human beings with all our faults and egos bear to accept what the “mirror of the self” can show us?

The answer is not clear…. Few who walk in the everyday world and live ordinary lives could accept such truths. It would terrify or repulse most of them. For those of use who walk the Path of Magic it is essential for us to know the truth about ourselves. We need to  know it.  We need to accept it. We need to try to balance it. THAT is where the Magic of Mirrors comes into its own. It is also why mirrors were often feared in ancient times… and still are.

Once we have the courage to look at our reflection and accept that we are not perfect we can begin reach for perfection. But there are obstacles to be overcome. Think of the fate of Narcissus, the envy of the Queen in Snow White and her obsession with being beautiful. These are just two of may instances  the magical mirrors/reflections.

The 10 spheres of the Tree of Life can be seen as mirrors of the soul at various stages of our development as an individual and/or as a magician. Looking into the Mirror of the Self is not always comforting or pleasant, but it will always be a powerful incentive to the aspiring magician.
